A tribute to the preservation of Appalachian heritage, "Foxfire" is the story of Annie Nations, a woman fighting to save her mountain farm from a brash real estate developer who wants to turn her land into a vacation resort. Her son, a country singer, comes home with two stranded children because his wife has run away. Annie's battle to decide her future takes her through some funny, touching and magical flashbacks to her life on the farm with her husband Hector. This story is a staunchly affirmative tribute to the tenacity of mountain dwellers, and a celebratin of a woman's will to maintain her home and family. |

Gathering experience before tackling the "big time" in New York, director Larry Rencher has decided to undertake MACBETH, drawing on his faithful (and genrally hammy) cadre of local theatre buffs. The role of Lady Macbeth is assigned to Dolly Dibble (whose husband owns the theatre) with the other parts being parceled out with similar logic. As rehearsals begin, so do the hilarious complications and misunderstandings until, harried and out of patience, the director storms off in a huff--leavng matters in the hands of the meddlesome newcomer whose "suggestions" have been a thorn in his side. As they will, things then go from bad to worse, until the director is wooed into returning and (despite the fact that Dolly's tipsy husband gets his head stuck in the witches' cauldron) somehow everything gets pulled together in time for the fateful moment of opening night. |

A longtime children's classic, "Charlotte's Web" is still magical when brought to the stage. An affectionate, sometimes bashful pig named Wilbur befriends a spider named Charlotte, who lives in the rafters above his pen. Wilbur is devasted when he learns of the destiny that befalls all those of porcine persuasion. Determined to save her friend, Charlote spins webs that sing Wilbur's praises. "Some Pig", "Terrific!" and "Radiant" appear in the webs above his pen, convincing the farmer and surrounding community that Wilbur is no ordinary pig. In this story of friendship, hardship and the passing on into time, the playwrite reminds us to open our eyes to the wonder and miracle often found in the simplest of things. |
